Melinda at Sleepy Emu Sweets designed and made my wedding cake. She was so creative and designed the cake frosting to look like the eyelet lace of my dress. So cool. My cake was not only beautiful but the best tasting wedding cake ever! This was definitely not your typical boring white wedding cake. My cake was so delicious I had wedding guests tell me afterwards they went back for 2nd and 3rds. Sleepy Emu designed and made my wedding cake and I couldn't have been more pleased with it. The cake designer worked with me to create the perfect look for the cake. I am a horrible artist, but she took the sketch I made and, from that general idea and through our conversations, embellished and expanded the design into something that was more beautiful than I had even been able to daydream up. My cake was not only beautiful, it was incredibly unique and was the centerpiece of our wedding. All of the guests raved about it when the saw it and then raved all over again when they tasted it. Sleepy Emu worked with me to decide on different cake flavors, ganaches, and frostings for the different cake tiers, so there was something that suited everyone's taste preferences, but which worked well together as a complete cake. When you see one of Melinda's amazing cakes, it's no wonder she has a degree in engineering. Not only do Melinda's cakes look like architectural masterpieces, they are absolutely delicious. For our wedding, my wife and I had Melinda make us a chocolate cake with strawberries that was covered with a chocolate ganache and a vanilla cake with strawberries covered with a vanilla butter cream as well. Sleepy Emu made the pies for my wedding - 20 pies in a mix of 3 different flavors - blackberry, apple, and pumpkin - EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!!! Sooo tasty! Even now, months later, guests are still raving about the pies! And equally important, working with Sleepy Emu was wonderfully easy & pleasant. We worked together to find ways and ingredients and recipes to fit within my very limiting dietary restrictions AND my sister's different and even stricter dietary restrictions. An you'd never guess, in tasting them, that there were any such limitations on the pastry chef! No one ever guessed that they were eating such healthy pies!
