About Me

My passion is the creation of sweet, edible art, primarily in the form of tasty cakes. For years, I have been honing my art, creating sweet treats at cakeries and bakeries throughout California. I originally graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a degree in engineering, but I had to follow my heart instead. Shortly thereafter I received my formal patisserie and baking education at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, CA. Now I am settled in the beautiful Bay Area and am enjoying making new, interesting, and (most importantly) tasty cakes for Bay Area couples. I look forward to working with you to create the cake of your dreams!

Why Sleepy Emu? A while ago, my husband and I went to Australia for our honeymoon and I absolutely loved seeing emus there, especially at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where I took all the emu photos on this website.

Some Cake Information

Cake Tastings are $20 and need to be scheduled in advance. The amount of cake I give to you is equivalent to a 6" cake but you get to choose 6 cake flavors and fillings. If you decide to use Sleepy Emu Sweets for your cake, and the final cake price is $500 or more, the $20 cake tasting fee will eventually be deducted off that final price. Tastings can be held at your home or another convenient location (coffee shop?).

The base price per slice for tiered cakes starts at $5.00. Particularly elaborate designs, gumpaste decorations, or different fillings/flavors for each tier are extra, as are cakes that require gluten-free, sugar-free, vegan, or organic ingredients. Frosted, undecorated sheet cakes start at $3.00 per slice. Marzipan is extra if it is used on the outside of the cake. Birthday/Event/Non-tiered cakes are negotiable but in general start at $3.00 per slice with a 10 slice/$30.00 minimum.

Delivery is free within 40 miles of South San Francisco. Delivery to the rest of the Bay Area is $100 or you can arrange for the cake to be picked up by a third party.

Each cake tier is made up of four layers of cake and three layers of filling. If you want something different, let me know!
